I have been teaching English as a Second Language since the summer of 2006, and I really enjoy my job.  But this is my second career.  Before becoming a teacher, I served as a diplomat in the U.S. Foreign Service for over thirty years.  Here is a link to my official biography, prepared when I was the U.S. Ambassador to Malaysia:

I love teaching ESL because it allows me to continue working with people from around the world.  My international students are a never-ending source of fascination and joy, and I feel very privileged to be the one helping them become comfortable in English.  

Besides teaching, the loves of my life are my husband Eino, daughter Karen and grandchildren Allison and James.  I am also taking piano lessons and pursuing my hobbies of cooking and reading.
